HRWC members receive history lesson

Members and guests of the Hanover Republican Women’s Club (HRWC) were informed and entertained by Fay Williamson, President of the Virginia Federation of Republican Women, as she shared the history of the Virginia Federation of Republican Women and the National Federation of Republican Women at the February meeting. The HRWC itself was established in 1983 by Hanoverians Myrtle Murray and Francis Walker.

In addition, the members collected cleaning supplies for the Hanover Humane Society.  The HRWC is committed to helping worthy organizations in Hanover County. It also offers a scholarship to a deserving Hanover County high school female in the amount of $500.

Delegate Chris Peace,R-97, recently administered the oath of office to the newly elected 2012 Hanover Republican Women’s Club officers at a candlelight ceremony hosted by Mary and Norman Sulser of Mechanicsville. The new officers are Elizabeth Bradford, president; Lynn Hamilton, first vice president; Ellen Malloy, second vice president; Reeva Tilley, treasurer; Donna Heath, secretary; and Margaret Godsey, corresponding secretary. All officers will serve a two year term. Joining club members were guests Fay Williamson, president of the Virginia Federation of Republican Women; Jenny Mundy, second vice president of the Virginia Federation of Republican Women; Chickahominy District Supervisor, Angela Kelly-Weicek; Cold Harbor Supervisor, Elton Wade Sr.; and Buddy Fowler, legislative assistant for Delegate John Cox, R-55. In addition to the ceremony, members collected food to be donated to the Food Pantry.
